From Phase VI Camera 10-10-2011

With the growing demand and development of a refining center in the Middle East region, the Port of Fujairah in the United Arab Emirates is further developing from a regional hub into a global logistics hub. This has resulted into increasing international trade flows that lead to a growing need for make-bulk and break-bulk services and blending.
To meet market demand, Vopak Horizon Fujairah has decided to expand its storage terminal for oil products in the Port of Fujairah by 606,000 cubic meters (cbm). The expansion reinforces Vopak Horizon Fujairah’s position as a bunkering center and trading hub in the region.

After completion of the expansion in the first quarter of 2012, the total storage capacity will be more than 2.1 million cbm. The expansion consists of 20 new tanks with sizes ranging from 20,000 cbm to 40,000 cbm for the storage of fuel oil and clean petroleum products.
The Major facilities are:
• Two tank farms for clean petroleum products (CPP) and fuel oil.
• One Manifold: To ensure total interconnectivity and maximize the operations between Phase-6, existing tank farms, existing jetties and future connection to Port of Fujairah.
• Additional features includes:
- Heating facility for all black tanks and piping.
- Pipeline pigging facility.
- Dedicated power generation system for phase 6 facilities.
- Fire Protection system with tank cooling and foam system.
- Tank Gauging and SCADA System.
The Phase 6 Expansion project has been contracted out as two EPC packages. An onshore contract that’s being executed by M/s Belleli Energy Srl and an offshore contract by M/s Athena Fujairah LLC. The project is scheduled for completion by the first quarter of 2012.
